On The Move 02:32
i'm hitting the road again, i'm out on my own again and i don't know where i am going to i'm off of the rails again, i'm ready to fail again and i don't care if that's not right by you but i didn't want to tell you on the subway i've never known what i'm supposed to do so i go with the groove can't stop, don't stop, got to keep on the move the clock has been ticking fast and our lives are all flying past and the more we go the less i count as true but if it's true that all we have is now then now's the time, then now's the time then now's the time not to refuse but i didn't want to tell you on the runway the doors that open up are far and few so i keep walking through can't stop, don't stop, got to keep on the move and i'll try as i might until i've lost my youth

i got an ex-wife, son, and a mortgage payment and nothing else left to lose i got a beer in a box in a bag on the ground and no one to answer to if it's not too late for me it's not too late for you it's 4:05 on a weekday, maybe tuesday afternoon i think a couple hundred miles til california, 94102 if it's not too late to see it's not too late to do hey man, do you wanna see some blues in san francisco? i've heard that's the place to be i'm sure you've got things to prove in san francisco but if not, you can hang with me you can hang with me

every day they preach from the pulpit "do what you love, love what you do," and "you won't work a day in your life if what you love is how you survive," yeah, i know we all need a philosophy but maybe we can figure this one out logically don't do what you love, do whatever you want do whatever you want 'cause love is powerful, love is intrusive love is fickle and love is abusive love can take you to dangerous places love can shake you to your foundation yeah, well, you can have whatever views but there's another way to choose don't do what you love, do whatever you want do whatever you want
4.
so you got a studio apartment living up that big ol' city life lateral promotions, new departments i can't deny i've wondered what that's like so you got a brand new medication i hope the doctors finally got it right and twice a week you go to meditation they tell you how to get some sleep at night but if your troubles keep on mounting and you're losing track from counting you can always leave that town and be... "slab city is a, kind of a, sort of a zen kind of a place. where you can get away with being nice. where as out there in the beast... i don't know. it's different. a sovereign nation. you die over there, but you survive in here." -- mike bright in imperial county (you'll find salvation, you'll find salvation) in imperial county (you'll find a nation, find liberation) in imperial county (you'll find salvation, you'll find salvation) in imperial county (you'll find a nation, find liberation) in imperial county (you'll find salvation, you'll find salvation)

i remember new orleans before the strangers arrived it was 1993 when we hit our high i remember the music scene back when music was live saw some pretty crazy things down by riverview drive and i won't forget it 'til the day that i die smoking on something funky, drunk with a junkie, told me "son, just be glad you're alive" and i remember i remember i remember

here we are, our pbr's parked at the bar. how strange what's that they say about the more things change? i know life keeps getting weirder with little hope of looking clearer but if you'll only just come nearer i'm not saying things are gonna be all right, like all those stupid songs what i'm saying is that maybe we just might have been all right all along maybe we've been all right all along listen to the rhythm of your beating heart it'll rarely steer you wrong i'm not saying things are gonna be all right, like all those stupid songs what i'm saying is that maybe we just might have been all right all along maybe we've been all right all along
